Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Call Out to Golf R Owners who've had Cracked 19" Factory Rims/Wheels

    Heya Folk,

I'm putting out a call for Golf R Owners (or people who know owners) who've had their factory 19" rims crack with usual daily use. I'd very much like to find out how prevalent this problem is in Sydney.

Tyre shop is repairing my rim. Called VW to talk about warranty, they said they won't discuss warranty for the rims and they transferred me to spares. Spares said that they've actually been quoting a number of these, (for a car which has only been available for ~2 years). This leads me to believe it's possible there's either faults with the rims that cause them to crack, or these wheels are not fit for purpose for Australia.

Cheap quality .. bad QC .. you name it .. thought this only happens to dodgy aftermarket rims !

Depending on how bad the crack is, are you sure the repair is going to be structurally sound ?
