Another thing which differs, dealer to dealer......they wanted to charge $100??? Tell them to get stuffed.

My dealer called it a 'complimentary 6 month service', so I knew I wasn't going to be charged for it from the get-go.

Just a basic check on the vehicle & topping up of windscreen fluid. They gave me the leftover fluid (near full bottle)...can't remember if I asked for it or not...

          Less than an hour iirc.

Yeah i think the best advice is to forward this to the ACCC. Also let the vw dealership know you are doing so just to enjoy them freak out

Is that a 6 months from the date of sale (when you bought the car)? Or from the date of production, when the oil was poured in the engine?

I've seen Yeti with 15,000km, 12 months from the date of purchase but already almost 3 years old.

I highly doubt that the dealers would've change the engine oil before they sell the car that is already almost 6 months old in most of the cases due to the distance and time it takes to get to AU.

And I am positive the dealers DON'T care what the production date is when sending out the "it's been 6 months since you bought the car from us and it needs a complimentary service letter". They aren't that thorough ...

It'd be a generic letter ...... it won't be from date of production but the date it rolls out of the yard. That's when their computer system says 'car is sold'.
