The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Acoustic glass?

I am getting the windscreen replaced on my 2013 Golf mk7 (base DSG model, no light or rain sensors) under insurance. I had a call from Instant Windscreens asking me if it has acoustic glass. Apparently it will either have a Acoustic writing or a ear icon or some other symbol. I could not find any matching symbols, so apparently I am getting a "standard" genuine replacement.

I took a photo of the markings. Can anyone tell me if my car has an acoustic windscreen?

I'd have said yes it does.

As far as I knew, they all have acoustic screens in them.

Yep, I should have said it had acoustic glass. I am trying to find out what the A symbol is, but coming up empty handed. Depending on the country the windshield is in, it either has the Acoustic wording on it, or the ear symbol.

I called the windscreen company back and the operator they have my VIN number on file (provided by NRMA) and a genuine windscreen has been authorised they can look up the matching part number that was originally installed.

I will ask the windscreen installer if the A symbol does indeed indicate it is acoustic glass or not, but that won't be for a couple of weeks by the sounds of it.

I had a look at all my cars and the only difference in marking is that A, none of mine have the acoustic screen.
So I'd say that is the marking to look for.

Just had Instant Windscreens to replace the glass. It's Pilkington branded glass and it does have a standalone A symbol as well. The glass guy wasn't really sure about the A symbol either. He just repeated what I had been told over the phone, the glass is ordered according to the part number associated with the VIN. So far it seems like it was a decent install even though he seemed to struggle getting the windscreen out, citing the factory install leaves a very small gap between the pillars and the glass.
