  • JB1 install problem

    Hi guys,
Just installed the JB1 in my MY16 R. Physical install no probs, disconnected battery and fiddled around until all done. Plug 4 sucked as I had to access from underneath the car.

All in, I connected battery and started car...only to get every error possible! Esc, auto hold, all sorts of things came up.

Anyone with any experience installing the Jb1 or any idea why all of the error codes?

Many thanks for any help anyone could give!

If I remember correctly, take it for a drive and it'll fix itself.

you always get heaps of errors when you disconnect the battery for sometime.

        It's because you disconnected battery.

Go for a drive, find a car park, do some left & right U-turns & they should disapear.

There will be low voltage codes - VCDS or similar can clear them.

Thanks for the tips. Didn't realise that could happen. Once I saw the errors I turned the car off. I'll give it a drive shortly and get it sorted hopefully. Cheers.

Thanks again for the tips everyone. Follow what you said and all errors cleared within about 500m of driving. Jb1 feels pretty strong, need to do some full throttle runs apparently to calibrate it. Much bigger surge of power was obvious right away though. Will leave it on standard map 1 for now then tweak it after I get an intake. Cheers.

you are supposed to wait at least 5 minutes after engine shut down before disconnecting plugs or they will throw a code. VCDS should be able to clear them. From DTUK install instructions.

There is no need to disconnect the battery when fitting a JB1 just open the car and hood locate the car key away from the car and let it sleep 15 minutes before disconnecting the 4 plugs and attaching the unit

JB1 US$379 Management Cable US$35 so about A$650 with shipping

I installed a JB4 on my stock bmw 335i - just on map 1 it made a huge difference in power. The hijacked dash gauges were really cool as well (stock fuel gauge would display boost pressure after certain throttle %)
If i buy an R, it would be great if BT bought out a Juice box like this for the R.
