Hopefully they get back to you quickly and sort i out.
It was a lot of heavy rain last week but i wouldn't expect the door seals to fail enough to let the water in.

You don't seem to be having much luck with the car unfortunately.

And now apparently it was the AC overflow pipe...

        So confused!

              Further update:

              1. The AC overflow pipe was apparently crushed. Possibly from work done by another dealer. They replaced the part.
              2. Volkswagen rejected a warranty claim to replace the carpet.

Hopefully it dries out enough not to smell, or it'll be going straight back!

That's crap they rejected the warranty claim or the other dealer should pay for it

Yeah. We'll wait to see how it dries out. If it doesn't smell, I don't care.

If it does smell the dealer said they'd go back to them. I suspect they'll approve it if that's the case

Since they aren't going to replace the carpet you should pull it up and get a hair drier on it to make sure you dry the area out as much as you can.

?? Who said the evaporator was on the right hand side??? I said the drain tube for it was........
So you assurt the water draining from the evaporator is piped all the way to the other side of the car to drain? I guess my logic assumed it would be drained like every other vehicle on the same side as the evaporator using the extremely short and direct path thru the firewall.

Bump. Anyone else had this sort of issue? In our Mk7 wagon now 18 months old, we theoretically had leaking roof bar mounts a year back, that shorted out the electrics in the passenger's side footwell and door surround. Now after a bad night's rain, the driver's footwell is sodden, after staying dry thru a week's drizzle. Climate control has remained on a steady 23 all week, so no sudden change there. Dealer suggests the air con drain may be the problem, but it seems very sudden.

Gotta love VW - if it isn't the engine and DSG blowing up, it's leaking and wet floors, and presumably rusty floorpan if not cured properly.
