Nice mod! Look forward to seeing the pics on the car.
Moving to Zimmerman drilled rotors and ate ceramic pads at the same time so /fingers crossed for a better feeling pedal
Yes i do know the ceramic pads don't have the initial bite of oem/semi metallic pads but they give a nice firm pedal which i like and also the newest formulas almost do away with lack of initial bite that bothers some peopleLast edited by Kachingg; 23-10-2017, 05:40 PM.2017 Golf Alltrack 135tdi All options

Hi Everyone
Been lurking here for a while, my first post.
Picked mine up late Sep, ordered it site unseen and apparently was the first in this spec in SA. I had my heart set on a Tiguan R 140 TDI but had a 6 month waiting list so settled on the Golf. I've had a two GTIs in the past so it felt very fimiliar to drive etc and I'm are very happy overall. Thought I would outline a few observations.
I didn't get the wheel bolt cap things on mine but that doesn't bother me.
I park my car at work outside most days without shade and I find the sunroof lets in an enormous amount of heat compared to past cars. I have had the windows tinted which helped but unfortunately none of the tinters I have spoken with will tint the sunroof, they all say it will probably break during application. I think I'll get a piece of Kingspan Airfoil to put between the blind and glass in summer.
Love the Active Info display and big dash screen but would like to be able to configure my own dash display. Maybe in the future, and also hoping there is a software update to give the cleaner more minimalist appearance that the new Polo display has. The only thing that really pisses me off about the Active Info is that if you answer a call on the steering wheel button the dash display changes to phone and stays there after you have ended the call, you then need to toggle through the display options to get it back to nav. I'm on my phone a fair bit while driving so annoys me. It doesn't do it if you take the call via the centre screen or on phone. My last car VW also did this, should be addressed.
What I really like is the dirt road handling. Last weekend I drove to a mates property in north SA, about 100km dirt roads, he was in his near new Landcrusiser and wasn't comfortable doing above 70kph, I was doing closer to 90kph responsibly in off road mode and almost felt like I was driving on bitumen. Off road handling on flat roads is brilliant. I also tried it out on some deeply rutted hill tracks, climbing was great and hill descent worked perfectly. My 4x4 mates commented that they thought it was amazing a Golf could do that.
Week before I was on a semi firm beach without any issues in off road mode. I'll wait till my mate with the cruiser is with me before trying it on looser sand.
I was disappointed the Aus spec doesn't have blind spot and rear assist, the European versions do, Volkswagen AU must have specced it down. But well adjusted mirrors do the job.
I don't mind the standard tyres but will upgrade soon, brakes could be better. Also thinking of lowering it to standard Golf ride height as 99% of my driving is on bitumen or dirt and I think it would look and handle much better.
Roof racks. Ended up buying factory racks from VW for $380. Tried three roof rack specialists but they told me thy couldn't fit Rolla, Rhino, Thule etc because of the sun roof. Factory racks work well and look great.
Cheers

Welcome Dave! Glad you're enjoying the Alltrack too. Agree about the phone/nav thing.
I picked up the VW roof rack too. I went looking at roofrack superstore online and saw the Thule but thought it looked a bit low - not enough clearance for the sunroof. I didn't bother looking further into it because, unusually, it was more expensive than the factory one anyway and that was before the discount I got from my dealer.Indium Grey Golf 7.5 Alltrack 135tdi Premium - all options

Hello again.
Thanks for all the feedback to my questions about the Golf Alltrack. We took the plunge and ordered a 132TSI in Iridium grey, with sport luxury package, active info display etc. Didn't bother with the infotainment system.
Hoping we love the car. Will have to wait a week or two for delivery.
Having read the later posts on the panoramic sunroof I"m feeling slightly nervous about heat in the car this summer. Hoping I wont regret going the sunroof option.
Anyway, thanks again.

Hey people! Just a quick question for those with vw roof rack. Can you fully open the sunroof with the genuine vw racks? I bought rhino racks that overhang the rails as I need to carry 2 hobie kayaks on top. So i can tilt the sunroof, but not open fully. Is this different with the vw racks? I bought premium petrol in white with luxury sports pack and driver assistance with active info display.
cheers,

Partially open, the front glass is slightly above rail height but no problem as the rack is forward of that portion with plenty of clearance. When fully open the glass is level with the rail height and again there is plenty of clearance between rail and bar height.
