  • Got my fully loaded Alltrack TDI on the 28th July, one of the lucky 10.... maybe, probably not 😁. Anyway, have not seen another Golf Alltrack in my area which I think is pretty cool. Had a Audi S3 8v Sportback prior, great car but so many of them around every corner. The new ride is such a fantastic all round package, comfort, space, great tech, awesome engine gearbox combo. Loving it so far!👌

Also does the Australian model have the wireless charging for your phone? Seen it in a few vids.

Only early days but fuel usage seems pretty good, average around 7.2 so far, not nearly as thirsty as the S3!. One thing I have noticed is the fuel gauge on the active info display (which is awesome) is very accurate and consistent from full to empty. Did a day trip up to Mt Beauty on the weekend, about 250km return and averaged mid 6s with some spirited driving. Very impressive.

            • How does it compare to the s3? Same torque but 120 less bhp
I love the rollon acceleration in 3rd and 4th vry powerful
7.2 is good to hear someone else who cant resist sports mode

              • Has anyone upgraded the brakes? I'm finding braking power quite poor on the stock tyres compared to my MKV R32. Wondering if OEM Mk7 Golf R front brake set up would be a direct swap?

                • Grey, not many options unfortunately. Going to get a gloss black Thule roof box shortly which should compliment the metallic grey well I think.

I was looking at a bbk but have snookered myself a bit with the offset on my new 19inch wheels got 51 offset so a bbk calipers will touch rims
But i agree the only slightly disappointing thing about the alltrack is the brakes would like to go a r or a 40th edition set up but think cost would be prohibitive tho a front bbk is 4k for a good one so maybe the r set up would be ok

S3 had more punch for sure, but torque of the tdi is really good, best described as effortless. VW in my opinion have finally nailed the DSG, this new 7sd wet clutch is a cracker! No hesitation off the line and is always in the correct gear which really helps eliminate any lag. I actually think this new tdi Alltrack could be quicker to maybe 50-60 than the S3.

Yeah i agree hund the 7 speed is just a ripper gearbox vw have tuned it well almost nil turbo lag always seems to be in the correct gear
It feels quick to i like how if you boot it in s mode off the line the rear just squats down almost like a dragster launch
I might have to time how long to 60 see how it stacks up
Also for a jacked up suspension it rides and handles vry well (still a fair bit of body roll if you really push it to the limit but its great up to about 8.5/10) think i might have to get the r rear sway bar it helps a lot, you can roll through the corners letting the torque pull you along feels vry powerful
Now i cant wait till after 1st service at 15000 so i can investigate tuning options another 35hp and 70nm of torque would turn it into a gti stomper

Would love to see some photo's of your beasty to mate shame you don't live in melbourne when rooboy get's his we could have got them together for a photo shoot
