Be interested in your (or their) findings... My Tiguan has let a little water in maybe 6 times in 4 years. When parked in heavy rain & leaning to the left, or hosing off after a wash, a little water is allowed through small (~15mm) gaps at the front & rear of the rubber weather seal at the base of the side window. The water trickles through the inside of the door to a couple of small drain holes at the base of the door on the inside & somehow makes it's way (capillary attraction?) over the sill & onto my rubber floor mat...

that reminds me of something else I read about the door drain holes sometimes being blocked by sealant and the advice was to poke them with something not metal so as to not damage the paint.
