Looks like a Golf that's designed for tall people - not exactly what I would call a van

Doesn't look too bad, but I don't get the point of it - isn't that what the Tiguan is for already?
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

I don't understand the need for this vehicle.
It doesn't really have a niche.

I guess it is different to the Tiguan on lowered springs given they are using lower capacity engines.

In Europe VW sells the Golf Plus which bridges the gap between hatchback and MPV.
This segment in Europe is big with VW, Ford (C Max), Hyundai (ix25) and Mercedes (B-Class) having entries.
Audi will also be joining in the not to distant future to with a version most likely to be called V4 or something similar V is for Variant or Vario.

This is the vehicle for those that don't like SUVs but want the benefits of one seating position & space etc.

I thought they all had more than 5 seats in the MPV class though? Most of them anyway.

Holden had that Zafira not too long ago here as well. Maybe it just looks smaller than it is because of the familiar shape and small gap between the wheels and arches. Maybe need to have a normal Golf next to it to get a better idea. I'm just not seeing a great deal more space anywhere besides above the drivers head based on that photo.

Here is a version that's clearer (easier to read) VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt - Autoblog

Looks very nice and sensible - and they wouldn't sell any here because people are obsessed with the silly SUV look so they can venture out into gravel car parks

Honestly, I'd look VERY closely at buying one. Just a bit more room than the hatchback, but without going as long as the wagon. Sounds like a sweet spot to me.
