The Official "I have ordered/received my new MK7 Golf" Thread

[Why?]

Well I ordered the Golf Alltrack today, but through a different dealer that I had been dealing with. I was given a quote in writing but happened to leave it at home when I went to the dealer. The salesman I was dealing with was away interstate but I had spoken to him and he said to see the sales manager as he would take care of it. The quoted price was on there system but I was told that none of the car details were. I told him as is on my quote White Alltrack with sports luxury package and towbar with wiring. They then tell me that there was no way they would have quoted that figure and I was wrong, that they could do it without the towbar for that price and thats what they must of quoted. I said I have a quote in writing with it all listed its either in my car or at home as I had scribbled some note on the back of it. I looked in my car and it was not there, went back into the dealer and said if I have to go home and get it I'm not coming back. I walked out the dealership made a phone call to another dealership explained the situation they said they would do the deal but they would need to get a car from VW as they did not have one in stock it would be about 7 days. I proceeded to Kevin Dennis VW and paid my deposit and am expecting the car next week. We I got home n the kitchen bench was the said quote on letterhead listing Alltrack sports luxury pack with towbar and wiring. It has now been filed in the round file. New family truckster here we come.

At other end of scale, Essendon VW are pretty woeful.

Getting a dealer demo 110TSI 2015 MY16 with Luxury and Driver assistance package PLUS one year extended factory warranty and Roadside assist: 2500 Kms, for $35K driveway in Melbourne. Has anyone heard a similar price on a brand new one with the same options or does this sound like a good deal?

I went to Essendon last, after negotiating with other dealers & they wouldn't even get close to my best quote, so they lost a sale early 2015.

Then I went to them for a 2nd time in late 2015, this time with a trade-in, & again, they basically offered to rob me.

Absolutely no interest in negotiating (well, this particular salesperson wasn't anyway).

Well that sounds familiar. Having purchased from Essendon a GTI PP early 2015 for what was a reasonable price, I decided two months later to upgrade to an R. I expected the obvious financial pain, but when I went back to Essendon to do the deal, they gave me a ridiculous change over.
A few phone calls later, I managed to get a change over $11,000 better off than what Essendon where offering. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend Essendon even to my worst enemy.

Good on you and congratulations.I am amazed that there are still non-cooperative cowboy dealers out there, with any brand cars really.
I went to a dealer last Saturday to enquire regarding the repayments on the 2.8% offer on the new Golf and after a 20 minute general Golf chat re colour, availability and the like, he refused to give me finance info until we had a agreed on price,even though I had told him I wasn't buying a car that day because I haven't sold my Golf privately yet. I just got up and walked out.

Picked up my GTI, FINALLY! The wait was worth it. Any settings or something I should be looking at to changing initially?
Only negative is the front plate and how much space there is either side of it.

Around town, at least, I'd pop it on comfort.. otherwise get in touch with Lakin to sort out a new slim front bracket and be thankful you get the choice for the slimline white on black. I have one from my time in Melbourne and I'm left with the joy of the stupid XX/YY plates SA offers.

Considering VWAus is assisting to get the price to $28,990 d/away as per their website, I can't see why a dealer won't come to the party at under the $28,000 mark. Plus, 2.8% is available if you're financing.

Either that or white but everyone deterred me from the white. Stoked with my choice though.

I've been driving in sport... Haha.
