Undine unloaded in Brisbane on 15/4; I will get my car from the dealer in Ipswich (35km west of Brisbane) next Friday afternoon (it too will be ready Thurs am). Have asked them to check the windscreen wiper issue. They are also adding a darker tint and doing upholstery protection. They offered to deliver it to me, but I will go to the dealership (don't want no other dude driving my GTI !)

Who is your preferred detailer? There's no shortage of recommendations on here for people in Melbourne or Brisbane but not many that I've seen for Sydney

Our car is on the Tortugas which is somewhere between Melbourne and Port Kembla at the moment. I was wondering what exactly you requested your dealer not to do in PDI to get the car with stickers etc. I passed by mine yesterday to request the same and I got a blanket response of: "haven't done that before and will have to check with the GM". Thanks.

I initially told the sales rep that I would pick up the car w/o any of their pre delivery detailing. I told him I am happy to drive car home with all the protective sheets. The delivery manager made a point about not being able to do a predelivery inspection with all the protective covering on. So I agreed that they could take the sheets off and leave everything else there. The car comes with a protective sheet covering the roof and the front bonnet. The sheets are taped to the car using an adhesive tape. I told them they could take the sheets off for a visual inspection, but no washing, no polishing or waxing, no application of any brushes or brooms on the car. I was happy for them to hose it to get any dust off but to only dry it with a soft cloth. When I picked up the car, only the sheets were removed, the car had not been washed. There were some stains but no visible scratches or dents. You have to be prepared to take it home in that condition. I would rather my detailer do the job than someone I don't know. I have seen cars taken home all nice and shiny until the initially layer of polish wears out and you see scuff marks underneath because the pre delivery detailing is not done professionally. I made it very clear that I did not want any detailing done and I would accept responsibility of detailing the car myself.

So apparently the specs of engines are changing for anything build after week 22. . .all I know is that here in the UK at least my 140PS GT (high line) comes with a 150PS.

Mine was ordered last week with a build date of week 29 - I emailed my dealer asking if I got the 150PS model and he said yes!
