More gap if he uses 225 40 18. With 235 40 18, it is better although diameterwise it is still.smaller than 235 35 19.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm running 19x8.5 +44 and the rear guards are perfect almost flush, front have about 5mm poke when not lowered. When lowered thats reduced to about 2mm due to negative camber.
If you wanna tuck the wheels all the way, wait for superpro LCA's (lower control arms) to be released and then you can have more negative camber

As for dropping down to 18's, I am actually considering 17's also just due to the price increase as you seem to hit 17+.

Please dont go 17" and ruin the car lol. I cant see the logic in buying a 60k car and not being able to afford 2-3grand for a set of rims if you go down the modifying(looks/performance) of a car way.

some members have actually now postponed their purchases of the 7R due to my post:
7R just died today on side of freeway
As you can probably understand, not happy...And to even think I was going to put in a Stg 1 REVO tune on it a few months ago - lucky I didn't.

There will be issues with any car/make/model. Your bad luck is just that, bad luck. Doesn't make the 7R a bad car.
There was a photo getting around a few months ago of an A45 in flames....obviously didn't put buyers off as the waiting times are still out of control.
The Toyota 86/BRZ had issues with idle etc, they still sold them with ease.
VW has had issues in the past with certain aspects of the Golf range, however there are pages and pages on this forum of owners loving their cars.
It happens mate, hopefully your issue gets solved quickly so you can move on.Last edited by DJB86; 21-11-2014, 02:12 PM.MK7 GOLF R -- FACTORY ORDERED 24/5/14 -- DELIVERED 28/10/14 -- LIMESTONE GREY -- DSG -- DRIVERS ASSIST PACKAGE -- SUNROOF --

the DSG in the mk7 is miles better
traction is amazing
more refined & comfortable
feels and is more powerful
is quicker
AWD makes it really surefooted
more economical
just nicer to drive
I loved the Scirocco but the mk7 r is much better. That’s progress for you I suppose

I have both models and as much as I love the scirocco R I prefer the Golf R performance, but the scirocco R line is so hot that mean look will never be match by the Golf R which looks much more discrete, not that is a bad thing I like it discrete as well.
The fact that the Golf R is built in the new MBQ platform makes a big difference specially for the driving modes which I love changing through all of them for different ways of driving to different situations, the space of course is far more generous in the Golf R the back seats are very confutable and you can fit in there easily not so much in the Rocco it is made more for 2 people although you technically can put 4 people in it is just very uncountable to get in and out, and quite claustrophobic.
The sunroof of the Golf opens, the Scirocco just lifts a bit.
I driving feel of the Rocco has a lower gravity centre you can feel it when you drive it It feels lower wider I suppose.
I found the petrol consumption about the same the Golf has the advantage of the eco mode and the start/stop .
The 4wd make a really nice difference you can push the Golf all the way and won't spin, the scirocco sometimes does it you have to learn to control the traction when you are taken off fast.
The scirocco R also has folding mirrors but the golf R has the option of leather and push start button.
Leds in the Golf are in the front and rear the new scirocco R that will be released will have the same feature.
Front seat is a bit tighter in the scirocco than in the Golf.
The Golf has all this new illumination in the instruments and a better gauge display that make it looks more modern compared to the scirocco.
brake callipers are slightly bigger in the golf as well not a big difference really.Last edited by sergioscirocco; 21-11-2014, 08:52 PM.
