  • Mk7.5 R, OEM replacement badges with new VW logo?

Hey all. Looking at the new mk8 and I’m digging the new VW badge with thinner lines. Anyone reckon VW will produce OEM versions for mk7 cars (or perhaps the mk8 badges will fit mk7/7.5 golfs?)

The front R badge may or may not fit (IIRC it is bolted to the grille), but the side and rear R badges look like they are just adhesive (stick-on) so should fit with no problems. I don't know about the VW badges, the front one might be the same as the Mk7.5 (which is different to the Mk7). the rear one might or might not be the same.

If you wait, the aftermarket will likely start producing them, and buying from aliexpress/ebay may be a lot cheaper than official VW badges.

Thanks for the info. I expect aftermarket peeps would make them eventually, and I can see the logic in NOT having OEM badges for earlier models (point of differentiation), so I reckon I’ll have to wait.

I’m only interested in the new VW badges as I’m not a fan of the new R badges

You and me both - but some people like the new R badges so I guess it is good to have a choice (to me they just look incomplete, but I'm fairly conservative styling-wise)
