Race Mode

Hi All, I have a GTI PP, and I have a question about race mode. I rarely use it because it never goes higher than 3rd gear. I can be doing 100 kmh yet it stays in 3rd....is that how it is supposed to operate ?

I thought Race mode was R model only? My 7.5 GTI doesn’t have it

The 2016 MK 7 Performance Pack has 5 modes, Eco, Comfort, Normal, Race and Individual.

Interesting , mine only has Sport , i thought it was only the R that had Race , does DSG change this .

Race mode hold gears Longer.

Apologies I meant SPORT not RACE, but the question remains is it normal to hang onto 3rd gear at 100 kmh ?

No, mine often hangs onto 3rd when cruising at 60

If it has the 6 speed DSG (DQ250) then IIRC yes, but with the 7 speed (DQ381) it should change up to 5th if you are just cruising at 100kmh. A TCU tune may change it to be more practical.
