Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2015 MK7R Haldex failure 45000km

Hi all, if you're reading this and have a FWD Mk7R I hope my experience will assist.

I bought a beautiful 2015 MK7R from a dealer in Sydney about two weeks ago, unfortunately very soon after leaving the dealership I noticed traction light and wheel tramp after coming on boost with a heavy right foot. If traction was off, the car would easily break traction at the front wheels, and if launch control was used it would simply roast the front tyres and not recover.

Fortunately having VCDS handy I scanned the AWD module to find the code below

    16670 C1113 07 [008] Mechanical Failure.

I claimed the repair under warranty expecting either a haldex pump failure or needing a new rear diff as many on here have. The car only required a software update and it was performing as normal again. I requested a haldex service while the car was on site just for peace of mind also.

For those of you with similar failures it may assist that knowing prior to the update, the AWD system VAG number ended with the letter D, and post update reads the letter H.

I'm not sure how this fault develops over time but I'm impressed with the service at Sydney City VW. Seriously knowledgeable people who turned this car around quickly.

    Good luck, all.
