Oops, bought an R

So I woke up this morning to a push notification from the Carsales app. Dealers have dropped the price of 2019 Golf R to $54,990 on-road.

Quick squiz at the finances and wifey and I realised we could trade our 2018 Golf GTI Original for about $20k, pay off its loan and only have to pay $200 more per month to be sitting in an R. 4 hours later at VW Berwick and we had a signed contract for an R with Dynaudio in Tornado Red plus tint, door sill protectors and black mirror caps for $54,990 on-road and we got $22k for the GTI. Hopefully gets delivered in 3 weeks.

Not bad considering the GTI is 15 months old with knackered tyres and 35k kms on the ODO.

Yep. If a dealer ever says no, walk away, there are many dealers out there.

Congratulation on your purchase. I've picked up an R last month. We're so impressed with the car particularly in the light of the value for money.
I also own a Porsche Macan but my wife and I are competing to drive the R not the Macan.
Pricewise, I found the VW flooded the supply of the R so the price seemed dropped a few K since I bought. Seriously we're thinking to get another R given that it could be bought at early 50k.
