    Anyone know what this is?

    Saw this on a mk7 R yesterday (Vic). I have no idea what it is, does anyone else? From a distance I thought it was some fandangled hitch/towball mount seeing the R isn’t meant to have one, but on closer inspection it has no mounting point. It looks like an upside down under-spoiler. Could it be some sort of undercarriage protection?

      Correct. Directs airflow from under the car into a stream so it reduces drag.

        As others have said, it is a rear diffuser. Looks like an aftermarket one to me.

              Wait, would that help prevent the road debris and dust from flipping up onto the rear of the car? If so, I might consider one… [emoji848]

              Probably mudflaps would be more effective…
