Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Annoying noise from the rear

I now have a rattly/creaky sound from the back , thought it was the parcel shelf or the floor of the boot , stripped it out and still there .

Only occurs on patchy roads and not all the time and its in all modes ie even comfort .

Starting to think it could be the suspension , would the colder weather induce suspension noises , anyone else had same problem , gets annoying when its normally such a smooth quiet drive , wont stop me loving my GOLF but .

I reckon it could be the rear seat striker. Hinge both your seats forward, wrap some electrical tape around the strikers and slam them shut. See if that helps.

I had that issue with my 2016 Golf GTI 40 years.

No problem! I think it's a Mk7 issue. It may be more obvious in cars with stiffer springs.

Guess you will be holding onto that R32 manual , the right combination , with a sound to die for , future classic .

I would agree with that as my 7R does this but only in Race Mode.
