  • MK7.5 Tail Lights 5G2052200B

    Hello

Has anyone heard/used VW Part Number 5G2052200B. They are a retrofit kit of MK7.5 tail lights apparently. Retail is $680 here in Australia for the kit.

That seems cheap for a set of four genuine lights with the progressive function!

Cool, I think this is the kit my local dealer said was coming. $680 is a pretty good price if true.

I'm after a set for my 7.5 GTI. Might give my dealer a call tomorrow and see if it's something they can order.

              Apparently additional parts required 1K8972928B x 2 / 1K8972928C x 2 are required for MK7 retro fit. Sounds like it's a customer fit solution.

So I went to order these from my local dealer. They tell me the part number is US only and is only the tail lights that go on the hatch?! Then they tell me it's $700 each. I showed them the photo in the OP and they all looked pretty blank.

Going to via VWCentral a buzz I think.

EDIT: So I think my local dealer has a case of fat fingers. The other dealers I contacted say the part number is correct.

                    For my MK7.5GTI I need
                    1 x 5G2052200B for the tail lights
                    2 x 1K8972928B housings
                    2 x 1K8972928C housings

VW recommends 3 hours labour to fit. No coding required for a MK7.5 GTI

Second EDIT: Local dealer quotes $2099.66 to supply and fit. $777 for the parts. $1232 for labour. At first I thought it was a typo, but apparently not.

That’s not right. The sweep won’t work without coding.

That's right, I stand corrected. VW recommend dealer allow 3 hours for fitting AND coding. So that's what most do. I ordered mine last week. Just waiting for the dealer to call to let me know they arrive.

So I got the tails fitted using the parts in this thread. Dealer job to avoid issues with warranty. Quoted and paid 3 hours labour for install and coding. Took them 6 hours. It's not an easy retro fit for a MK7.5 as is the first they have done.

They look cool though. As a child of the 80s growing up on Tron and Bladerunner. I think they are worth it. While not a huge fan of smoked tail lights, I do like how they look.
