i don't know why its different in the dub dub stable as the hardware is essentially the same, but in my Superb, i can activate ACC at any speed, even under 67km/h and my TJA will b active. I don't have to be travelling above 67km/h.
i do this everyday - dropping the kids off at school, lots of traffic in 40km/h zone. i activate ACC when i'm crawling and stopped, and from there on TJA does the work (steering and braking) for me.

As long as i have ACC and ALG active/on, TJA will do its thing, at any speed.

If ACC off, then ALG will actively steer the car above 65km/h - i.e. green guidance lines. below that, the guidance lines go amber and self steering stops.

In VW land the ACC can be set to any speed above 40kph but the TJA will not activate unless the vehicle has been driven above 67kph. I had better put a proviso into that, I am relating my experience in my Tiguan which was one of the batch that came in without TJA enabled and was activated here, if other owners have a different experience with factory enabled TJA it would be good to hear about it.

In my Golf R I can activate ACC at speeds equal to or greater than 30km/h, and TJA will be activated, even if I don't reach 67km/h. I sometimes take advantage of TJA on surface streets, where the speed limit does not exceed 60km/h.

I can probably take a video with a GoPro strapped to my head if that suits.

TJA came activated from the factory. My R was built calendar week 45, 2017.

You mean you use ACC not TJA at speeds below 60kph, by this I mean you use ACC to control your speed not to utilise the steering/lane keeping function below 60kph that TJA gives. I am trying to write a definitive description on TJA at the moment so all contributions are welcome.

No I know exactly what I mean. Both the lane guidance lines and ACC icon remain green regardless on whether I have reached 67km/h.

I used this feature just a few weeks ago when I was leaving an event and there was a long line of cars exiting the venue. Traffic was slow on surface streets and the lane markings were good enough for the camera to pick them up and enable ACC and TJA.

Thanks for clearing that up, much appreciated. There can be a fair bit of confusion talking about the two different systems.

Mine was factory enabled - i didn't do any TJA related coding.
TJA will activate on mine, similar to wat Kevlarman said, without having to reach that illusive 65km/h, as long as it can detect lane markings.
for example, i've come to a stop in traffic. i activate ACC and set it to 40 cause school zone. if is spots lane markings, it will turn green even before i've moved. then tap the accelerator or press RES to move off when its time.

I just went out for a drive in my car and it is as I have said, the ALG does not work under 65kph and the two lines go orange under that speed. My manual actually says 60kph, can someone read their manual and see what it says? TIA.

Maybe factory-fitted TJA is different from the aftermarket TJA you can get here? Maybe different parameter sets or something.

I'll go for a drive tonight/tomorrow and confirm some things.

Well, its a good day when you learn something. I just went for another drive and found a few things, if the ACC is not set the two green lines (ALG indicators) appear at 65kph when accelerating and disappear at 60 when slowing down, that bit is not in the book. Then I tried the trick of setting the ACC while stopped and that worked as well with the two indicator lines going green before moving off, that isn't in the book as well. The 67kph activation was something I read here and because the ALG on its own did not activate until then I presumed that the vehicle had to exceed it. The other reason was we had no experience with TJA and went from what I was told from other sources as well and the vehicle owner's manual is as useful as an ashtray on a motor bike.

Good to see u learnt something new.

my manual explicitly states 65km/h. I've been saying this for a while, and about the TJA behaviour from actual daily use, in various discussions - but me coming from the Skoda stable, no one takes note!!

It's not that no one takes notice it is that most tend to only view the model forum they have an interest in. Note the difference between accelerating and slowing down.
