Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2016 Mk7 Golf TDI 110 Bluemotion - Chip Tune or Flash Tune?

    Hey all,

Anyone actually tried a flash or chip tune on one of these? I have used a bluefin flash tune on my old 2005 and it seemed to work well though it is a lot of money.

I am now looking at one of these:

Chip tuning VW Golf VII 2.0 TDI | From Racechip

Though can't find a lot of detail on them.

    Any advise, thoughts or experience?

    Thanks

Yes, I did. I had (Just traded for a new R) the RD Technik plugin Box fitted, from new on my TDi. Yes there is a difference, more 'grunt' (torque) pretty much throughout the rev range. Slightly better diesel mileage. Fun to drive. I didn't realize how much until I removed it before trading the Tdi in, and driving for a few weeks without it. It wasn't cheap but I would do it again in a heartbeat, and it can be unplugged/bypassed easily. 10mins to fit.
This is not a sales beatup, but it's now sitting on my workshop bench. Make a fair offer and I'll consider it. Cost $1500 with all cables.

I have an Underground Performance tune on my Skoda Octavia diesel and I find it a delight to drive with excellent fuel economy. A marked improvement over standard.
