Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Lost credit card when opening the sliding centre console lid

Thought I'd post this solution as I was looking at having to pull my centre console apart, but this method only took under 10mins.

No idea why, but I placed my credit card on the sliding lid. Later I opened the lid and the card fell into the bowels of the centre console. I assumed the lid slide at the same level, but after reading up, the lid rolls around like the blinds on the top of your spring-loaded house blinds.
I tried for 20 mins to get my fingers up the sides where the console meets the carpet (with the seats rolled fully forward) with no luck.

Went to the $2 store and bought a floppy plastic 30cm ruler for $1 and a $2 roll of 18mm double-sided tape.
Stuck two pieces on the end (approx. 80mm long) and jiggled that around. Got a business card out, but no credit card to be found.

I then tried with 2 more pieces of double-sided tape, but this time half of it was overhanging the ruler (for more floppiness/flexibility). So 40mm tape on the ruler and the other 40mm. This worked first go!

    Good luck!

For the large amount of $1 you can go to Bunnings and buy an anti RFID wallet and keep your cards safe in your wallet.

      Imaginative thinking however.
