Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 1.4 TSI twincharged 118kw intake cleaning

    Hi all,

I am a newcomer and has been following the group for 2 weeks.

I want to do a DIY clean the intake manifold and hoping it will also clean some part of the intake valves using a foaming engine conditioner (they sell a Japanese's brand over here called DCS engine conditioner).

Currently I'm running with Amsoil PI to clean the injectors (1 bottle for full tank and will do half bottle for another half tank).
So intake cleaning will be next.
The last will be combustion chambers decarb thru plug holes.

Can anyone suggest the easiest way (and also shortest path to the valve)....which point I should spray this foam.

I noticed a member posting a DIY for 2.0 GTI by removing IAT sensor and spray thru the hole.

    How about this engine?

I am thinking to spray via a breather hose's mount beside the intake temp sensor G42 on the backside of the engine.

    Any opinions ?

    Tks & rgds
