All autostores usually stock them. Look for special offers as well, difference in price can be big. I got Castrol Edge FST for $55 at SCA for example for dad's Golf.

Castrol edge FST says in its specifications its a 502/505 and IS NOT SUITABLE FOR DIESEL ENGINES WITH A DPF so best of luck if you are using that in your TDI.

You should be using a 504/507 Like Castrol Professional III or Penrite Enviro+ 5w 30 The Prof III can only be bought at a dealers but the Penrite is available as I have already said at the 3 car accessory places

Agree but they make it confusing because the EDGE FST 5w 30 A3/B4 502/505 which could be mistaken for the correct thing is not as is only for petrol engines or diesels WITHOUT a DPF

The safest way to check is by looking at the label on the back which should say APPROVED for VW 504/507. If it hasnt got that dont use it in a TDI

I know, fully aware of what the car need but got that one for GolfMK5 petrol to change, my Tiguan is under warranty, likely to service with dealer as also have extended warranty. At least give them one chance to prove themself at the first service in Feb.

Liqui Moly TopTec 4200 is probably the best oil you could buy but at $109+ I would rather change Castrol EDGE FST twice per year for the same amount. My opinion at least

I was really close to buying the Edge FST. Long queue at the check out so I read the fine prints. Not for DPF. Lucky me!

I think I'll go for the Penrite Enviro. It seems pretty good bang for buck.

Only one Nulon oil is APPROVED for VW and its a 5w 30 504/507.


Presumably you mean Valvoline if so I believe some are approved but hard to find.

what makes you think the FST 5w30 is not suitable for DPF? Are you sure you picked the correct one

Big thing that sux with VW is the special tools - quite a few 12 point spline drives, tool needed to wind the rear brake calliper in,

"Spline drive" sounds like a torx bit. Is that what you mean?
Where is the recommended place to buy any needed tools.
