Parking Sensor Issues - Help Please

Hi all, just finished playing ball tonight and went out and got in the car and my parking sensor went nuts, constantly on... Looked at the screen, front passenger... Hmmm... Checked the sensor and it feels like it has been pushed inwards slightly when compared to the other front sensor... Would be interested in finding out how to get to the sensor from behind so I can push it back towards the front to see if this solves the problem... Anyone?

As a follow-up solution...

The sensor was pushed inwards by about 5mm. IMO this meant the sensor was picking up the sensor mount and going nuts.

Solution was fairly straightforward... Using long fingers, reach through the bumper grill and feel behind the sensor. I pushed the sensor further in using my other hand to ensure the rear of the sensor didn't have any major wires I'd crush. Then I pushed the sensor back into it's slot.

This didn't work as the sensor wouldn't align properly.

I then came up with a cunning plan... My wife had graciously left behind some rubbish (fuel consumption sticker) when cleaning her brand new car... Bingo!

I folded the sticker in half and then cut a section of the folded area (approx 3/4" x 2") and then used this a guide by sliding it through the sensor hole and then opushing the sensor from behind again. Once it was close to the front but not entirely aligned I pushed again but also pulled the now jambed sticker very carefully and the sensor popped back into position.

Tested the car in the garage and all sensors reported for duty as normal.

No bumper removal necessary.

Voila.

UPDATE

Worked for a little while and then back to being bung... hmmm... might be scratched?

I think I'll let this play out until VW has a look at it next service in a few weeks time...

Best way is to swop sensors then you know if its a wiring issue or sensor issue...swop the "faulty" one with one from the other side of the bumper

This will be a job for next weekend now... Wife wants some of my time... Who'd of thought???

I noticed mine go off when droplets of rain block the sensors sometimes... as silly as this may sound but could there any debris i.e. dirt stuck in the sensors?

Nope, not it. Took them out, cleaned them... Looks like a small scratch on the surface which could be the problem. VW will have the car in a few weeks anyway for the service...
