2008 Mk6

Hi All,

Were any MK6s produced for new deliveries in Australia in 2008? I'm looking at a MK6 TDI which was manufactured in 2008, but complied in 2009. I did a check on the VIN and it lists the model as a 1K and aesthetically it is definitely a MK6.

Would I be correct in assuming that they would have build the vehicle in 2008 for 2009 release?

Any thoughts would be helpful, cheers.

Mk6 Golfs sold in Australia began with MY09, but MY09 manufacture began in the second half of 2008. This is normal - a particular model year will often commence many months (up to 6) before the calendar year actually begins.

Deliveries didn't commence until the 2009 calendar year (redbook doesn't list any MkVI - MY09 or otherwise - for 2008 ). As it takes many months for a car to be built and shipped from Germany to Australia, it's entirely reasonable to assume that an early-09 delivered car was manufactured in 2008.
