  • Mk VI car vandalised - questions?

    Hi all,

my mk VI black golf was parked on a busyish road this week, residential area, and i returned to it to find both mirrors and mirror covers removed, and both fog light / vent covers removed. Incredibly annoyed as this car was in tip top condition. Anyway maybe that was the problem- one friend indicated likely vandalised for parts as they are relatively expensive. Still, cost for these parts total seems to be $300 according to other sites...

    a couple of questions:

    - have others also had problems with external parts being removed?
    - cant imagine that total cost for parts and labour is lass than $600, hence best done as an insurance job. Comments?

    cheers

What's your insurance premium? If the total cost to fix everything up is less than it, then there's no point in doing it through them.

Also, do you have a no-claim bonus?

You could save a little money with non-OEM parts as well

Get prices through the dealership, including labour to fit, before deciding whether to fix it yourself or going down the insurance path.

Hi, thanks for replying. My excess is 600, hence why i was asking about the likely cost to complete.

I am on maximum no claim bonus for life, so that wont be impacted

i know the guy at autohaus strecker at alexandria pretty well, will check in with him tomorrow...
