Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey all,

So I have had my MK6 77TSI for just over a month, and it is a joy to drive.
However, within the first 2 weeks of owning it, it was back at the dealer with 3 big issues.

    1. Car stalling (it's a DSG, didn't expect that) FIXED
    2. Strong smell of fuel after driving/when parked in garage overnight FIXED
    - this one was meant to be fixed, as advised by the dealer, however this is still happening and i'm beginning to get worried because it's a very strong smell.
    3. Fuel pipe rattle
    - Again, told by the dealer that it's fixed, and for the first few hundred km's it didn't rattle... beaut. However, it's back, with a vengeance, louder than before and now more than just at idle, it's now when i'm pulling away from the lights as well.

Just wondering if anybody else has experienced these issues or if I have just got a lemon.. hoping that the latter isn't the case as I am just falling in love with the car and would hate to have to part with it.

    Any feedback would be great.

    Ryan

    Pretty common problems.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a lemon.

      Thanks for your response.
Any idea what could be causing this?
I guess I panicked a bit 'cos it's my first car so seeing my baby with problems hurts.

Just a bit of an update in case anybody else is experiencing similar issues.

With the fuel smell, took the car to Peninsula VW (Frankston, Vic) today to get it looked at under warranty and it was found that the car had a distorted O-Ring. How this happened in the short life of the car is beyond me, but I am happy to report that the dealer has successfully fixed this problem, so my baby can go back in the garage Happy days.

However, the dealer could not replicate the rattle, even though they confirmed what the problem is they refused to carry out the work on the fuel pipes (just needed to be padded to stop them chattering on the chassis). Will see if the problem comes back.
