Rear sway bar for MK6 Golf GTI

I've fitted several 24mm rear bars from Super Pro to Mk6 Golfs now and have only had good feedback. One point of difference between the super pro and the whiteline bars: the lateral limiters are built into the super pro bars (like OEM),whereas the whiteline bars use a crappy little bolt-on alloy bracket which can foul on the crossmember if fitted incorrectly.

I run a 24mm front and 26mm rear bar in my Tiguan (same chassis,heavier car) and it's not too stiff by any means.

I think I'll go SuperPro or H&R anyways... I had Whiteline on my Polo Gti (24mm) and that had the same crossmembers you mentioned. After about 2000kms they started loosening up and had to be re-tightened.

So 24mm rear only should be ok and wouldn't be too stiff??

No issues adding just a 24mm rear bar to mk6 GTI.

I've got the Whiteline 24mm front and rear sways on my 118 TSI. They do require regular greasing about every second service. Run on the medium setting they're firm but not overly stiff. On the hardest setting it corners flat as a pancake but is a bit much for day to day driving. I'd go for something with better rubbers next time. The supposedly upgraded rubbers Whiteline sell are too expensive to bother with.

This is what one of the technical advisers mentioned to me from ECS tuning

The stiffer the rear sway bar, the more prone to oversteer (and less prone to understeer) the car will be.

Yeah which is why I'm leaning towards the 22mm, seems like a nice fit with the 23.6mm hollow stock front. Could always go up to stiffer setting... however ppl say 24mm on soft if like 22mm.

I'd be inclined to go 22mm myself - it's a fairly common choice and seems to yield good results. Stiff without being overly so, and still retains some good overall balance.

Yeah the one thing I've noticed is most ppl go stiffer the front than back... and if you went 24mm rear than that's the opposite so go figure...22mm just seems a safer bet if you don't plan on going for both and leaving the front stock. However if you went both I'd probably go 24mm RSB with 26mm FSB.

Yep, or at least make the car more neutral or adjustable on the limit. It's not like we're talking torsion bar rear suspension here.

It's pretty hard to get FWD platforms to oversteer - and if you're doing that on the street, well...

It's more about reducing understeer

When you go excessively hard on the rear sway bar FWD cars can become nasty, lift off oversteer can catch you out big time

So is 24mm considered too stiff and that's another + for 22mm?
