Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Yeah I know of Geo's one. I was wondering if there were any others? Surely it just can't be him and myself? :s

99% sure you and Geo are/was the only Mk6's on air ride. What information are you chasing? Or are just interested to know how many there are in Aus?

            Thanks Koji.

Not so muh information I'm chasing. I was told by someone that mines the only air ride mk6 in aus. However I did know of Geo's so i knew that wasnt true. But it did make me curious to find out how many others there are.

Not complaining about being one of two at all lol

yeh well pretty safe to say yours in currently the only bagged mk6 in Aus...Hurry up and get some wheel sussed now haha. Also, did they notch your frame? I saw somewhere you said you wanted it sitting on the ground so that would be your best option...

Wheels in a month or so when i get the funds and decide what to get haha

I was thinking about it but I was told it would make my car forever illegal to be driven on the road? Do you have any more info about this, where i can get it done and what actually needs to be done? Haha

                Thanks in advance

Depending which state you are in, in QLD u must have a modification plate done.

In NSW u must obtain an RTA engineering certificate.

The costs, expect $200-$2000 depending who does the job.

If the bags are not TUV approved and / or do not meet the minimum ADR requirements at all, same as wheel spacers (except factory option on Porsche cars) it is totally illegal no matter what.

Worse case scenario (only my hypothesis) if u get involved in a drama which u r at fault and the police / insurance investigators do prove that it was due to the bags, insurance wont cover u and if the other party happens to be a luxury car >$300k with write off damage; then who knows what your lawyer could do for u to minimise the damages or you will just have to declare bankruptcy if u dont have the fund to compensate the damages. Basically unlimited liability is possible it is that serious.

Best to consult to a qualified lawyer to make sure u are not in a serious undetonated bomb.

                    Thanks.

My air ride is fully engineered and lodged with Vic Roads, who has updated their database accordingly.

Notch can not be engineered on these chassis from what iv been told (by air ride guru)
Its something to do with how the air bags (safety ones, not suspension) work when in an accident and how the chassis maintains it shape during the impact

I won't notch it, as I drive it daily at the moment. Maybe when it's not my daily I'll look into it haha
