  • GTI - Dash lights flash on while driving

Driving home tonight in some traffic noticed the lights flash on and off on the dash (while driving) the one of the steering wheel stayed on about a minute.

This happened three times before u could pull the car over got out while running checked everything. Popped the hood all seemed normal so switched the car off for a few minutes then drive home with no problems.

Any ideas?? Freaked me out a bit...

Happened again Friday just gone, got a vid on my phone of it this time

      The lights coming on are:
      Taco Side
Traction Control Off Light - Yellow Solid
Steering Wheel symbol - Yellow Solid

      Speedo side
      ESP light - Yellow Solid
      ABS light - Yellow Solid
Parking Brake light - Red Solid
Tire Pressure light - Yellow Solid

Going to get it scanned either this arvo or tomorrow to see if there is an error code, hope there is!

Re: GTI - Dash lights flash on while driving

I got sick so had to cancel the previous appointment. Car went in today, found the errors and related to 2 modules not talking.

Updated the software, was known to throw the error on that version.

20 minutes into the drive home, problem still happening. Was just after 5 so give them a call in the morning to let them know and find out the next step

          Hi dvestate

I've been having the same (similar) problem with my mkV jetta. Some others have posted similar issue in the following thread:

The last VCDS scan by exoticars only revealed tyre pressue warning had been logged. But since then I've maintained proper pressure and still having the issue.

Please keep us posted on what your findings are.

After taking the car back the next week I had a phone call that they had to order in a part and unfortunately if I left the car it would be a few days until it could be completed as it takes a while to do and they were booked solid.

Rebooked for yesterday dropped the car off and picked up in the arvo, part changed.

They replaced the ABS Module, from looking at my problem and finding the same thing on a US site for the MKV GTI it was costing those guys about $2,000USD so I am glad I had new car warranty left!!

Drove home and no lights but wont deem it a total success until it has been a week of driving to and from work
