Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tinny Rattle

    HI all,

Today i took my golf to the tyre shop to get some 17 inch wheels+tyres i purchased on ebay installed, all went well with that and I also got a 4 wheel alignment and some adjustment to the rear camber that they told me was needed, but now i have a rattle coming from the rear, it sounds tinny, and only happens at low revs say 1200RPM,

its like something it rattling or touching something, cant put my finger on it, just a tinny vibrating sound..
Any ideas of what it could be? it doesn't happen all the time, so its going to be hard to show them and no doubt they’ll pass the buck and say it wasn't something they did, it has put a dampener on my new wheels. I will stress the noise wasn’t there before hand.

I’d appreciate any feed back or ideas, cheers.

possible they may have caught the backing plates of the rotors..pushed them in a little so its touching... can you figure out which side its coming from to make it easier to locate?..VDUB..

jack that side up and spin it by hand to see if you can reproduce the noise...
