  • Looking at buying GTi 2010-2011 or later

Hey all... First post in the Golf forums.

I currently own a Polo GTi and have been thinking about upgrading to the MK6 Golf GTi. I wish I had just done it from the get go but finances and petrol costs made me think otherwise. Well now after the recall and having test driven a Golf I'm impressed and feel that resell value would be a lot better then my current Polo in the long run.

My question is are there any major concerns to be worried about before purchasing one, being is the differences between MY11 and MY12 etc, is oil consumption a worry like the Polo, are there DSG issues or better to go manual?

    Thanks

Take a look in The Official MK6 Forum Important Threads & Posts Index **LOOK HERE FIRST** thread for links to the info you need.

    Specifically:

Look under the GTI section for common issues (rattle on acceleration resolved by a clip on the wastegate, and water pump failures).

Look under the Model Year section for information on changes for MY11, MY11.5 and MY12.

There are no specific oil consumption issues with the GTI, although like many VW engines it can use a drop, especially when new. Nothing like the PoG engine.

For DSG questions, see the DSG section of the above index, and also http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...kes-41977.html.
