glove box bulb always on unless car is locked?

I just realised my mk6 gti glovebox light is always on, closed and open, when the car is running or switched off but not locked (But eventually it turns off itself after a long period of time).

I tested it with leaving my samsung s3 camera recording inside the glovebox.

The housing gets pretty hot and i had an osram chipped led t10 bulb dead cos of this.

Anyone else having this issue?

My tiguan switches off the glovebox light when the glovebox is closed.

Yeh, mine does the same. Tested it the same way. Never realised this.

Just checked ours out, always on too, seems a bit pointless

Just stick on a bit of the sticky tape on the corner where is the push switch and the problem solved,
