  • Throttle Response

    Hey everyone,

Just wanted everyone opinion based on their experience, I've noticed today that when the engine is cold, the throttle is not really responsive when accelerating from a stand still. When it starts to warm up, its fine.

I don't think this is normal, can anyone clarify this for me?

    Thanks

Well I can't say mine has an issue but I don't drive it very hard when it's cold. Would be helpful if you gave some engine and gearbox details. Also how many kms has it done?

Haven't really noticed, but you really shouldn't be putting too much load on the engine until the coolant and oil temps come up past 80 degrees at least.

DSG is constantly adapting on a variety of factors too.

        hey Rich,

Ive got a Golf MK6 GTI DSG, its done about 31,0000.

I don't drive it hard when its cold either, when i take off, I gently put pressure on the peddles, it just doesnt want to move sometimes.

        Only noticed this today.

It's the TSI engine 'cold start'. Can be quite slow until it gets a bit of warmth in it!!!!!!!!

If you've only just noticed the problem then I'd take in for a check. As you've driven 31k, I assume you had your 30k service recently so it might be something that has worked loose since the service.

I noticed in the Scirocco R yesterday in the VW Evolution driving course, if you put the boot in just after a start, it is very lethargic, but once it has been running for a bit (30 secs? We were always turning off between sessions etc) and ensuring S mode, was getting some very nice wheelspin, am a bit of a DSG virgin.
