Hi, has anyone got a mk6 with the sports pack? I think it comes with 17" wheels, sports seats, sports suspension and window tint.
Does the suspension mess up the ride or is it still super smooth?
comes with 19 inch wheels ride is still smooth has sports seats i think it also has bigger brake disks tinted windows are great love mine had it for six months its DSG6 six speed great fuel economy Sydney to Melbourne and have driven around Melbourne for two weeks on the same tank of fuel. Its no slouch though ,stuck it to it on Hume highway the other night getting around truck looked down and we were 160 Km felt like 120.
We did not buy the sports pack with our MkVI as we did not like the more jiggly ride (the additional unsprung weight from the larger brakes probably contribute along with the stiffer, lower suspension). Plus I don't like the more expensive tyre replacement cost.
We loved the seats but couldn't justify getting them alone as they are almost as much as the whole sports pack.
It depends where you are coming from. Our previous cars were a Peugeot 306 and a Ford Focus which pretty much had the best chassis (so ride/handling compromise) of their generations in this class of car. I don't think the MkVI chassis is quite in their league which is why we did get ACC (which is no longer available on non-sports models )

Definitely a harsher ride, but the seats are honestly fantastic.

Went from 15" to 17" wheels on my Golf. Firmed up the ride where it is just a bit too hard now. I find myself swerving around manhole covers etc whereas before the golf really wasnt too fussed.
If you live where the roads are smooth then it doesnt matter but i live just off Toorak Rd and the roads around here are total ****e.
I have the comfortline sports pack and I love it The ride is a bit stiffer, but it sticks to the road really nicely... When I bought it I was told it had the suspension from the gti, so it would have the same ride... The sportspack also has some upgraded electrics, like dippy left hand mirror on reverse, fog lights with cornering function, low tyre pressure indicator... the sports seats are great. I'm not a large guy, and the sport seats hold me in the seat well.
I'm in Brisbane, with lots of pot holes and poor quality roads and it seems to handle them well, although for sure a slightly higher ride would be smoother.
Just sold my Mk6 Golf Comfortline Sport... Waiting for my 2015 Lapiz Blue Golf R with sunroof, DAP2 and leather to arrive

Honestly, Brisbane's roads are billiard table smooth compared to the rubbish we have in Sydney (especially in the inner western suburbs where they just get munched up by the trucks)... Have the sports pack but doesn't become too bothersome.. As one earlier poster said the seats do make up for it...
seems to be some "interesting" information in this thread. I've got a 2009 118TSI with a sports pack, I definitely don't have 19in rims and pretty sure the brake discs are not larger either. the DBA catalouge lists the 70/90/103&118 all as the having the same model disc as replacement(280mm or 288mm) and the GTI and R as both different again.
The auto dipping mirror "kerb" function I do have, but so does my work colleague on her comfortline without a sports pack. Fairly sure it was a comfortline feature (ie: not 77 and 90) along with dual zone climate control.
the latest Golf VI brochure - which i've downloaded to help remind me of what I have to now sell it - mentioned nothing of the sort either.
From the brochure....
Alloy wheels (Seattle) 17x7" with 225/45 R17 tyres (4)
Dark tinted rear side windows and rear window, 65% light absorbing
Front fog lights with static cornering light function, mounted in lower bumper
oh, and as far as ride is concerned, it's fantastic. I have DCC on mine as well, but even when turned off, the ride is far from too harsh and handles with much more surety than stock.
the wider wheels/tyres also help a hell of a lot with traction. anytime i've had a loan car (with normal size tyres) the amount the TCS kicks in, especially in the wet, in very noticeable.

I can tell you the front brakes on a sports pack Golf are 312mm diameter as found on a GTI.
I should know, I changed mine out to DBA slotted. If I didn't measure them I would have been sent 288mm as listed in the catalouge.

interesting to know I likley have better brakes then! althought considering mine is for sale now, unlikely it will become my problem!)
thanks for confirming. good to hear information from people that have actually checked, owned, seen etc as opposed to "heard it on the internet" opinions based on air.
