I'm just about to take delivery of my 2009 Mk6. When I looked at the car I noticed a bracket and strap on the left hand wall of the boot. No equipment attached. What's this used for? I just want to make sure it's not missing anything.

Now, I'm not sure if the dealers here actually remove them because they are not "standard" here.
When I took delivery of my Caddy Maxi Life, the dealer took me through everything and when he came to the area where the first aid kit etc. was, he first said "this is another storage pocket, usually empty" and was quite surprised when he saw the first aid kit etc. still in it. By this point he could not remove it and so I ended up with it

With the bracket, for memory it was squared, so not sure if this would fit a fire extinguisher.

Bracket and Strap in Boot
My 2006 Polo GTI has the same thing. I bought a first aid kit for around $20 from my local Audi dealer that fits in the bracket perfectly. The strap though is too long. I just threaded the strap over it self and it holds it in06 VW 9N3 Polo GTI - Reflex Silver Leather/OEM Colour coded S/guard/OEM Lower Honeycombe Grille/NSP Boost Gauge/APR Stage 1+,Dogbone & DP/K&N filter/Forge s/shift,DV008 & Strut brace/PD 160/Samco camo TIP/Whitline RSB/FK AK's/17 x 8 Oettiger RE's/Alpine Head Unit & Sony Amp.
