  • Custom Order Mk6 Golf?

    Hey guys

So I wish to put in an order for a golf around March of 2013 but since the Mk7 is coming out a few months after this time will I still be able to put in a customized order for the Mk6? (i.e. Trim Color Options)

    Thank You!

Best to ring a dealer. There the only ones that can find out for sure. If your not happy with there answer then ask a couple more. I find some dealers want go beyond the easy stuff and some will go a little further to get you what you want. So you just need to hunt around.

Why not wait for the MK7?

To be honest with you I really don't like the front end of the Mk7, but that is just me.

after some research, I am having second thoughts about buying the 118TSI due to the many problems it had/potentially has.

My planned order was supposed to be a fully kitted out 118TSI (pretty much everything but the park assist)

I can't get the GTI since I am still on my P Plates

firstly, congratulations on doing extensive research. thats something that not enough people do, due diligence.
next, how long u got on the p plates? might be better off waiting the year or so (it can be tough, but thats life) and then reward urself with the nice car that u waited for.
tough decision to have on ur p plates tho, choosing a nice car

              Thanks again for your reply,

I actually am quite old and got my P's late (I am 26) , also I still have quite a long time until I get my full license and I need a car now for work,

My budget would be around the 40 grand point, I have considered the BRZ (since I'm not married yet) but it too seems to have many problems being a first year model.

Can I ask for some advice on this? What would you recommend?

              Thanks!

I just have had a look on youtube some reviews on the Mk7 and it actually doesn't look that bad at all, especially with the sports pack front end,

And the interior just looks absolutely beautiful especially with brown leather (and the steering wheel too)

I have also read that the 118TSI twin charged engine is getting dropped down to just a single turbo'd engine, would you say this will eliminate the problems the the current 118TSI models has (engine explosion, etc)?

I think the engine failures were limited to the earlier models... But I could be wrong. There was a recall/software update. Don't forget that what you mainly see on forums and the like are people that have issues vs the many thousands that have not had any, so see no reason to post things.

Every car has problems. They are a highly technical compilation of mechanics that is also built to a particular set of budgetary and practical compromises. It doesn't matter whether you search the Toyota Landcruiser forum or the Mercedes-Benz forums or the Kia forums, there will be people having a whinge about various problems. Don't let a few issues that a very small proportion of people have with their car turn you off buying it. If you really want the car, and informed yourself of it's good and bad points, then buy it. I've had a few minor warranty issues with my GTI, but they were fixed and I moved on.

There are some people who perhaps are eternally pessimistic who want to have something to whinge about, and those people will always manage to find something to whinge about.

$40k budget and p plates. depends on lots of things. new or used? hatch, sedan, turbo or non-turbo? brands? luxury or sports? how long is a piece of string. the key factor is also ur finances, is $40k stretching it? do u live in the moment, or are u financially conservative, do u like to lavish on cars and forget to eat, or could u drive a used corolla for the next 10 years as u like to save for a rainy day?
what job do u have? r u a sales rep that is in the car all the time, or r u a student, how long do u plan to keep the car for?
a lot of questions to be answered.

well, seeing as u mentioned golf 118, brz, i think ur open to a lot of things things, the finances im not sure about.
personally, i live well beneath my means, ive owned some nice cars before, but pegged back with the gti, my next car might be something nice again, who knows.

i cant offer any suggestions atm until i get an idea of what u like and who u r. $40k and a toyota hilux ute would be a practical choice, $40k and a e43 m3 would be an irresponsible choice
