NZL - Looking for a Golf to hire from Auckland - Northland area

I'm planning a three week holiday to the northern tip of New Zealand at the end of the year. I've tried searching online, but I can't find any site where I can specifically hire a Golf. It's the usual "specific vehicles can not be guaranteed."

Has anyone successfully hired a Golf in New Zealand?

I've gone to the big international names (Hertz, Thirfty, Avis, Europcar, etc.), but at best they only have a Polo. Nothing against Polos, but I don't fit in those.
