trunk light/boot light

Hi all,

JUst noticed something odd about my golf. Wondering if anyone else experienced or have an idea as to why this is happening, before I head to the dealer this thursday.

I have just noticed my trunk light does not automatically turn on when I open the rear hatch door... At first i thought it was due to the lighting in my garage, however I have no noticed it does not turn on full stop. Unsure if I have some setting on that tells it not to switch on or if its a fault.

Anyone have any ideas?

Has it ever worked to your knowledge? I had a similar problem after buying my previous new car ( a Honda). It had been on display in the lot, and to avoid flattening the battery while it was sitting there with the hatch open, they disconnected the globe. That may be the case with yours. If so point it out to the dealer when you go and get him to fix it.

In fact do that anyway. It's still under warranty right?

tommy01 - checked the globe looks ok.

rossw - Car is still under warranty - its only a few weeks old so I'm going back to the dealer on thursday. I never really noticed it working... I was told by the other half it did switch on at least once when she opened the trunk, but have not seen that happen since.
