Carbon Steel Gray question

For those whose GTI is carbon steel in colour, do you find that it shows the dirt a lot, much like black cars? We have a black aurion and as much as it looks classy when cleaned, a couple of days later its back to dirty again so I've decided no more black cars.

White is my first and pretty much only preference but there's a carbon steel with the options I want, and with the driveaway sale ending this month need to make a decision quick.

probably not as bad, but like any dark colour, will show dirt and scratches more..

How much is the metallic option for VW? AS I only wanted white or red, I didnt check the others. I know Audi/BMW/Benz charge $2500 or more for it. what a rip job and you never get it back when it comes time to sell

I have a CSG GTD and my wife didn't like the idea of a black shade, but even she commented the other day when it was a bit dirty after the rain, that the fleck in the metallic paint blends in with the dirt. Of course, if it is really dirty then you can see the dirt. Overall, I'm happy with the dirt blending in and looking like flecks. But, others may look a lot closer than me and see, dirt.

It is $500 for metallic paint.

I don't really have any issues with dirt on my Carbon Steel GTI.
I came from a Candy White Polo GTI, and that thing always looked dirty, especially in the rear from the exhaust. After that, I vowed to never get another light coloured one.

I have Opti-Coat on my car, so the paint works been preserved really well.

So, in summary, Carbon Steel is working out for me really well.

Definitely not as bad as I expected. The dirt shows up no more than the dark blue of the Mk5 (as it's a comparison I know).

And the silver cars I've owned haven't been significantly better in hide the dirt.

I can tell you from personal experience that CSG is much better than black. I just came from a Deep Black Pearlescent Tiguan which was dirty again within minutes of washing, yes minutes! The CSG stays cleaner a lot longer and doesn't show the dirt or inevitable swirl marks anywhere near as much as the black. I love black cars but the upkeep was just too much and I'm very happy with the CSG as a compromise.

A mate of mine drives his CSG GTI on dirt roads regularly, parks his car outside at night (no garage), and rarely cleans the car. Yet it never looks filthy - unlike my red.

I'd say it's an excellent choice to hide dirt - certainly better than white or black.

I've got CSG...it's great at hiding dirt but looks excellent when clean. I would say 100% go for it.

Although not Carbon Steel Grey, my Golf is United Grey (not quite as dark). I also have a white car and in my opinion the white is 10x worse than the United Grey in showing dirt. I just have to think about driving the white one and it needs a wash

I have a CSG GTI and it hides the dirt much better than the black Nissan my wife used to have. The black ones do look brilliant when clean, but 200 metres later.....

Sometimes I only notice how dirty it is when I brush against it and the dirt shows up on a white shirt.

The silver Honda I used to have was probably better but it is marginal. I would have no hesitation getting this colour again.

Looking to take things slightly easier with the new one mate. First stop is Opti-coat

Doesn't matter what colour the car, they all look clean if you wash them every day

My old man used to say that dust is generally white/grey in colour so the darker he car the more you tend to see it get dirty, so if your car is white or a derivative of grey you are less likely to see how dirty the car actually is. His other comment was that if you clean your car regularly even if it rains it dries clean.. fair comment I say
