When I first open the door in my GTI I hear a whirring noise inside the car - I think towards the back of the cabin. It sounds like something retracting.
LOL! (about the bulb primer, like my whipper snipper hehe).
Well isn't this car an electronic bag of tricks! I didn't know it was the fuel pump (thought it was some kind of venting to help clear stale air or something hehe), it seems many things on our car operate even with the keys out the ignition, unlike my old Subaru where key out pretty much meant very little still had power. No wonder our batteries are so massive! And we don't get kessey here, which would require even more things sapping at the power in "standby".
Subaru key out does not mean power off - wonder why lights still work ....
The lights switched off when the key was pulled out, not sure what you are referring to? The interior lights perhaps (of course all cars will run those)? It just seems many more things in the Golf work independently of the key, it amazes me opening the door primes up the fuel pump! (e.g. you can run the stereo without it, granted it switches off after 30mins to presumably save power). The one thing that does need more action with the key is when you stall the Golf, you can't just go to crank it again, you have to turn the key completely off and on again!
