  • GOLF R - no factory orders a.t.m.....

Folks - no R orders from factory at the moment. The new fairshare allocation has just come out and the R is not on it
This means you have to either compromise what's left around in OZ or wait-a-while (2013?)

F@rk... I have been watching the demand issues in the US which is not surprising for us but appears to be for them.

hmm values for second hand Rs just jumped

      you correct there!
I am not sure if the lack of DSG gear boxes is the reason or if they are starting to prepare factories for the MK7 Golf. Anyhow, this means you probably find that dealers are less willing to give corporate discounts or any discounts now..."Suply & demand" mantra kicks in

If they are preparing for the MK7 - then prices of MK6's will drop, not increase - you ahve it around the wrong way.

Its all buyers perceptions though, look at what happened to MK5 GTI prices when the MK6 was announced, dropped by over $5k overnight (and I know as I had a friend who was trying to sell a MK5 GTI at the time and just couldn't unload it).

Agree with SF, history shows that 2nd hand prices remain high if not rise in these situations

Our MK5 GTI actually held and slightly raised it's value when the MKVI was announced and sold in a few days.

              Perception is reality eh SF

The difference is that the GTI is available and plentiful, the R not so much and sort after.. back to where we started.. demand versus supply

I wouldn't expect any MK7s on Australian soil until late 13/early 14 (this is purely speculative, not official company wisdom!), but it is likely to appear earlier in Europe + the R version may not be introduced straight away (if at all)

Hmm. Interesting. Does this also apply to the Roc R?

No more orders of ROCs from factory for arrival this year.
This was the factory order for SEPT12 arrival - realistically you probably want to hold off now anyway for a 2013 compliance unless the car is already in the county or on water
