New Black GTI - Swirlmarks on bonnet / most places

Hey all,

Picked up my new black GTI last week, one thing I have noticed is that it is covered in swirl marks, especially on the bonnet in 2 places - It looks like someones little brother cleaned it I took it to a no-touch car wash to get a proper look, and in the sunlight its pretty bad..

What do you think I should do? Its going back tomorrow to fix a defect in the paint anyway (under the clear)

Options

1) Suck it up - get it detailed properly to remove the swirls
2) Complain and get them to fix it..

Anyone else had this situation?

get it fixed - unacceptable for a new car.

That is why whenever my cars go to service, I always say DO NOT wash the car. I always get the blank look like 'are you serious?'

Totally agree...a new car should be pristine and if its not, get the dealer to do the hard work and fix it!
And while you are there, make it clear to the Sales Manager that you are not happy with the standard of work from his dealership!
And remember you have paid a lot of hard earned cash for this car!

What he said.. take it back and ask them to fix.. they should sort it , personally I would ask if you can get it detailed at their expense then you know it will be done properly.. make a real fuss

Not sure how much stink they will go for (that I kick up) - but worth a shot.

Otherwise its going to have to be a good detailer to fix it, or me with a bottle of wax / sealant :\

Request a detailer of your choice and send them the bill. Last thing you want is the dealer using the cheapest they can find and making more of a mess of it.

If I was you I'd be taking photos of the areas you are not happy with so you have evidence just in case.

I showed up early to pick up my new car, and they hadn't washed it. The sales guy apologised and got the car wash guy onto it, and I saw him dry it with a crummy old chamois. During the delivery process I pointed out the scratches to the B pillar trims and they didn't argue about replacing them.

When I take it in for a service, I ask for a vacuum only and they don't seem surprised.

Back to the OP's question, it doesn't hurt to ask for them to fix it. I'd suggest trying the nice guy approach and appeal to their sense of fairness first before kicking up a stink. Good luck with it.

Well car in today to fix a defect in the paint on the bonnet, and get the waste gate clip installed.

They had a look at the paint, but they want their manager to have a look at it (to approve a detail etc)

Lets see how we go.

well they've done the clip for the wastgate rattle (yay) - but didnt have time to take it to fix the paint defect (boo) - so they are keeping it till midday tomorrow.

The service guys can't help me with the paint swirls, apparently the manager is in tomorrow from sales to make a call..

So they need the car for another day. 3 days so far. Apparently their detailed is going to fix it.

And since they will be getting it back late tomorrow it may be Friday. I've had the car 6 days, they will have had it 5. It's a competition clearly.
