  • My Mk6 GTI thread...

Just starting a new thread that will soon show my Mk6 thread mods.
Going to Vic (Burwin VW) tomorrow morning to pick up my Mk6 3 door tomorrow morning, then its back to Tassie on the boat tomorrow night.
I expect to have the first of the mods completed by 2ish on friday arvo.
H&R coilovers, BBS CH wheels and reflash are the fist to come. Turbo back exhaust and intake are on their way as I write this.
I am very excited and hope this car is every bit as good as my old Mk5.
Will post pics as I take em.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

Ok, I flew to Melbourne last thursday, picked up my shiny new GTI and had a luxurious trip back on the boat in one of the "deluxe" cabins, courtesy of the TT line!
First thoughts of the car was that it was sooooo gutless compared to my old Mk5 GTI which had the higher compression AXX motor and stage 2+ tuning.
First to go off the new GTI was the 18's and on went the coilover supension and BBS CH wheels (18's) Next was the stage 1 tune which improved the car out of sight! The TBE and intake should be here any day now so it will soon be stage 2 APR

I will dig out a better camera soon!!
      Thanks for looking....

Sweet!! So what do you think of the Mk6 apart from stock lack of power? You haven't wasted any time modding her!

Rob, the Mk6 is a hell of a lot better than the Mk5 as far as I think, so much tighter in the body, better turn in, much refined!
This car had big shoes to fill after the great Mk5 that I had. It seems as though it will easily fill em.
The paint is a trillion times better, build quality is fantastic.
Just wish I had seen this car of mine being assembled (born!) while I went through the Wolfsburg factory last july!
          Ha!

Thanks George, yep, been a while mate, love to catch up again.
Coilovers have not upset the ride and the handling is great, a lot nicer a setup than the Koni coilovers in my old GTI.

Thanks Adam, they have been carried over from my Mk5, great wheel but before I fitted the coilovers the 18's looked too small for the Mk6, specially after the bold genuine 18's that were on it for all of 24 hours after I picked the car up!

Great to hear you find it a step up from the Mk5. Would be a bummer if you weren't happy with it. Love the direction your taking the mods. Are you coming back over for Dub-Stitute???

That's a shame. Didn't realise return trip costs that much!
