2012 Volkswagen Passat CC facelift spied - this was just a few weeks before I got told from an employee of VW Germany that a new one was on it's way.

Can't wait to see what it's going to look like and what engine it's going to have - maybe a 2.5L TFSI from the RS3/TTRS?

Going by those LED DRL's in the picture I'd say the head-lights will be identical to those on the Passat/GTI/Polo/Tiguan - thus my theory is right lol..

I have a CC and a mkvi GTI so I'm probably a closer match than most. The CC is a great tourer, but struggles when corners and speed are involved. The GTI is lots of fun around bends, but lacks the comfort for longer drives. I've considered trading the CC for an R (my wife uses the GTI during the day) but given I spend time commuting the comfort of the CC wins the day.

                Thanks Pook.

I find myself a very conservative driver. I don't attack corners or rev the car often. That's because there aren't that many corners to attack on the routes that I go through on a daily basis.

I've driven the R, GTI, TSI, and TDI. They are all good and fun to drive. R is the most powerful Golf. But the R is the car that doesn't make much sense for driving on public roads. Yes, it is very good for corner and other stuffs but how much can we do that on public roads?

The Passat CC is inexpensive, comfortable and it has got most of the gadgets included as standard.

I would say that I'm kinda regretting my R purchase/order. I should not have gotten the R knowing the fact that driving it on public roads is limiting its potential.

I'm talking myself into cancelling R and purchasing a Passat CC. (Help! ??)

Just go and do it man. If you want the Passat CC, then get it. It don't matter what anyone else thinks here, only what you think.

As everyone else has pointed out, there are substantially different cars. Only you can decide what you need/want/buy.

I see, based in this logic any car as powerful or moreso should not be considered for driving on public roads.. damn are those EVO & STI guys going to be disappointed.

To be frank the CC is only going to have 25% of its potential utlised as well.. it is about what you want and how you like to drive it. The CC will be a great luxo tanker which will fit a number of your driving moods.. the GTI/R etc etc will accommodate those moods and then some more.

We all like to give the potential a squirt from time to time, the public roads are not racetracks so sure the full potential can't be unleashed but damn its nice to apply it in a limited fashion

Mate! As Corey eludes - it sounds like you are looking for a car like the CC. You are right in your match I would say. The powerful yet smooth and comfy CC is going to satisfy your needs better than a fast, zippy and stiffer R or GTI. Go for it, just change your order.

Not really, the F6 and Amarok don't make for a comparison.. the others have a similar class..

                                Hi all,

I went out to test drive the TDI CC and V6 CC yesterday. CC's interior is very nice.

The TDI is a very boring car when it comes to performance. The V6 has got the performance but it just doesn't feel like a Golf R. Lack of engine noise, exhaust notes and doesn't handle like a Golf.

I've made up my mind to stick with the Golf R order and wait till it arrives in January.

I'm sorry to have caused a bit of stir in this thread. I should have test driven it before asking for an opinion.
