I recall some years ago you could purchase touch-up paint pens so you could carefully dab them onto stone chips in the paintwork. I could certainly make use of one right now!
i was advised by my detailer against touch up paint, instead touch up pens as suggested above or permamanet markers if you can get a near enough colour match as the finish with a marker will be matte and you wont be able to notice the touched up area like you would with a glossy dab of touch up paint.

ok so I just got in contact with my local VW dealer who at first couldn't find Rising blue on their system (he even sent me a screenshot of all the paint codes for 2010 Golfs and Rising blue was not on this list)
After insisting that my car is a 2011 Golf R in Rising Blue 4C4C R5Z as stated on my contract he finally came back with the following details:
paint touch up set applicator
Part Number: LST 0M2 R5Z - Rising Blue Metallic
Paint Code: R5Z
Pack: 18ml
Cost: $22.30
It is a brush applicator type and he recommend me practice on an inconspicuous area before actually doing the final application
Though I haven't used touch up paint on my Golf, in the past I have used some for my track cars which were quite prone to chips, best thing to do is to give the area a good clean before applying the pain. I know it's obvious for most but I have ran into some people who just dab it on straight after they get a scrape

Thanks to a trip to the local shopping centre and carefully parking in the furthest away corner, reversed in park; I inherited this scratch. I'm guessing shopping trolley was the culprit.

I've used this method with good results in the past for minor fix ups. I get auto paint shop to mix me a can of my colour then spray the paint into small container till I have just enough to do a layer and repeat until chip filled. I have found it harder to find touch up pens these days. I see small touch up bottles with a small brush everywhere.

I got a touch up pen from eBay... was like $10.... worked great .... looks like cross between permanent marker and small paint brush
they had version for dark cars and for white car .... sorry cant find the link for the exact one but there are few there

Thanks dny, perfect timing as I picked up a chip on the R a few days ago. I quoted your paint code to my dealers parts department who insisted they knew better....they eventually conceded you were right. Mine was $19.20. It's worth noting it included a bottle of clearcoat as well, I wasn't expecting that.

This is excellent news. I will give this to my wife to slip in her handbag then whenever she borrows the car she can spend some time touching up the scrapes as soon as she gets home........
