  • To black or not to black

Hey all. My Black R is about 5 days away from delivery and I have an opportunity to change over to the black 19" wheels. I have found very few images of black Rs with the black wheels. The wife is not keen but I am. Please throw opinions out there because I really cant decide if it will look as good as I think it will or is the wife is right and it will be too much! Also I have purchased a black VW for the front if that changes your opinion.

If you go to Google Images and type Black Golf R there are a couple of shots of black on black (don't search for black on black though!).

I'm personally not a fan of black wheels, but it is very much personal preference.

      Don't do it!
It looks like someone has used a spray can to paint them.i.e. Looks cheap.

Get the 19" silver ones and if you so decide you want to change the colour, you can always get them painted matte black or gun metal grey which IMO lend a classier look to the car than gloss black.

        You're all wrong. Use blue!

Seriously... as with every single one of these threads, ask the question, you'll get 1000 different opinions. In the end, the only person who's opinion matters is yours (and I guess your wifes). So who cares what other people think? Do what you want

            I lol'd at that.

I reckon the black rims look pretty legit:

black rims have some benefits... eg: it hides brake dust as it is less contrast.

I love my black rims on the Rising Blue and I will fight anyone with another opinion because I am right..........

Why not ask them to do the right side with silver and the left with Black and check it out/pick.....

I saw a Black on Black 5 door a couple of weeks back and it looked hot. So much so that I considered ringing up and seeing if it was too late to change my order from Silver 19's to black. I was initially worried that the car would be "too stealth" with Black on Black but seeing one in the flesh (on the move), I can say the colour combo is awesome.

Resisted the temptation, though. Saw a Black on Silver 5 door last week and also looks the business. Whatever the case, you will end up with a sweet looking car. Black R's FTW.

Lolz at the black on black google search! If I ever look down that path I have my perfect excuse, " I was looking for pics of the Golf" thanks all for opinions. I did not think about re doing the silvers at some stage reckon that might be the go.
