Golf R Biggest fuel refill

I managed to get the distance to empty down to 0 km for a while today and the Golf R took 55 litres to fill.
I thought the capacity was only 55 litres all up but Corey_R suggested the volume was 60 litre in the fuel venting thread.
Has anyone with an R actually ran out of fuel and recorded their filling volume?
Would be nice to know .

I put 46 in my 90tsi it reckons still had 140ks to go after doin 746ks.

The most I ever go into my R was 54.55, but that wasn't completely empty and I never seem to be able to make the needle 'top off' - always just shy of the full bar on the gauge. That said I don't think I'm 5 litres of a complete fill.

I'm not suggesting, I'm telling you it's 60L!

When VGA published the Australian brochures, they made a mistake. I raised this via one of their reps and they apparently had to escalated up to Germany to find out the answer. They came back and informed me that I was correct. Just like in every other country in the world, and the R32 before it, the Golf R has a 60L tank. We lose 10cm of boot depth, which equates to 75L of boot space. Whilst most of that is due to the rear diff for the AWD, we do benefit from a slightly larger tank.

Is the reserve amount (if any?) included in the 60lts, or in addition to?

The manual states that there is a reserve included in the 60L. So when it tells you its out, it's not really. But it's also possible to fill a bit in the pipe, and some in the vent area, and of course, filling up when cold fits more in too. Plus any bowser error. So you can get a bit more than 60L

Sure can get extra in. With the 'puter saying 10km left, I put 58l in the 55l tank. Took a while to trickle the last 5l in... and I did have to make sure I drove a good 50km so there was expansion room again. The figures quoted by makers is supposed to be the volume to the first auto shut off on the bowser. Trickle fuel in, and you can often get some to go into the expansion area, and also fill the filling tube too. On my series one Discovery, I could ALWAYS put 10l in after the first shutoff (Diesel foaming accounts for probably 5l of that though).

Thats impressive but I don't think I will ever get that low before refiling

Corey, I wasn't doubting your information but seeking how much of the stated volume is usable.
My old WRX never took the stated capacity even when I had run out.
I reckon there is unlikely to be a figure higher than Glenb's

If you've got an old filter, it is of course terrible for your engine as all the sludge in the bottom of the tank gets sucked into the motor. If you've got a newish fuel filter, it wont stay new for long.....
