What engine mounts are people liking in the Mark 6?
My guess is that it's because the DSG gearbox is about 30kg heavier than the manual, therefore the need to use a harder compound to achieve the same result.

Could the guaranteed smooth shifting of the DSG also play a part (since not everyone shifts manuals butter smooth all the time)?
Nothing to stop you if you don't mind a bit more NVH. I know someone who fitted a polyureathane dogbone mount to his diesel and he loves it even though it'd loosen fillings at idle.
Resident grumpy old fart VW - Metallic Paint, Radial Tyres, Laminated Windscreen, Electric Windows, VW Alloy Wheels, Variable Geometry Exhaust Driven Supercharger, Direct Unit Fuel Injection, Adiabatic Ignition, MacPherson Struts front, Torsion Beam rear, Coil Springs, Hydraulic Dampers, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Disc Brakes, Bosch ECU, ABS

Guess I wanted to know if it would fit, by the looks for it they run the same bush.
The DSG "Shocks" the drive train (no clutch slip) - the manual you can slip it (clutch) for smoother take off. Thats our recommended settings for people who have not used the mounts before.

I guess it would shock it too, I don't slip clutches
The main difference you get with a stiffer TAI is the amount of vibration at the clutches friction point. The problem with a DSG car is that you cant control that friction point at all so adding a stiffer TAI can annoy some people. On a manual car you can up the revs a little bit which tends to reduce the vibration considerably when using a stiffer mount.
Im a big fan of replacing the whole pendulum mount as with the BSH setup. Its more expensive but the re-engineering the entire arm has allowed them to product a product that is not only unoffensive to drive with but actually feels more solid than with just a TAI. Its especially good on manual cars where the standard driveline shunt really is more noticeable through the clutch pedal.
